The Oboe and it's reed
Oboe reeds are of course the source of the oboe's sound. With the control given by the oboist, the two sides of the reed vibrate together to give the the characteristic tone of this instrument. This 'double reed' instrument is just one of the double reed family which includes the piccolo-oboe, the oboe, the cor anglais and the bassoon.

Oboe Reed Analysis
This software suite allows the recording and analysis of the various parameters that control the nature of the oboe reed. The staple, the shaper and the scrape profile and their effect on the pitch and response of the reed.
